About Me

Born and raised in Southern California, I spent my childhood living in the city of Whittier and my teenage years in a town called Redlands. After moving to Redlands I started hearing stories about a group of guys teaching something called “JKD” out of their garages and backyards. It turned out that JKD was the martial art developed by Bruce Lee which he named “Jeet Kune Do“, and the group teaching it referred to themselves as “The Wednesday Night Group“. A friend who had been training with the group for about a year offered to take me to a class taught by one of their young instructors named Jeremy Lynch. I was impressed to say the least. I learned about “the fighting measure”, a concept borrowed from Fencing and watched as the students worked on straight punching, side kicks, and various other techniques.

I began taking private lessons from Jeremy Lynch in 2003. Now, almost 20 years later, I hold the rank of Full Instructor with the JKD Wednesday Night Group under Tim Tackett and Bob Bremer and the martial arts have become an integral part of my daily life. I’ve produced around 40 instructional videos on Jeet Kune Do and FMA, run a commercial martial arts academy, taught seminars, written magazine articles, and co-founded the Chinatown JKD Association.

I’ve also recently worked on applying Jeet Kune Do and JKD principles to Combat Sports through an affiliation with amazing teams like The Shack System out of Glendora, California.
